Hi! My name is Karen Leisey. I have been an educator for almost 19 years. I have two Masters degrees, one in Library Science and one in Instructional Technology. Currently, I am the High School Librarian for a school district in Pennsylvania. I love working with my students on research projects, curating content, and using their technology skills to empower them to be creative and collaborate with others.

I started my career in 2002 as a Middle School Librarian. I remained there until 2013, when budget cuts put me into 8th grade Reading classroom. I only lasted one year in that classroom and ended up taking a year-long sabbatical to get my Instructional Technology cert and when I returned, I was an Instructional Technology Coach for 2 years where we rolled out 1:1 Chromebooks. In 2017, I took the position as a High School Librarian in a different district where I currently remain teaching. I love this role because it’s the perfect blend of tech and literature.

When I’m not in school, I spend time with my three sons, my husband, and my animals. I love to read, dabble in photography, and be outdoors!
